PHILIP ANSELMO Offers To Custom-Pen New KLITSCHKO Ring Entry Song
April 10, 2007Scoop Malinowski of EastSideBoxing.com reports: Philip Anselmo, the lead vocalist of DOWN and formerly of mega-group PANTERA, feels IBF heavyweight boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko is missing a beat with his current ring entrance song "Can't Stop" by the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS. And he'd like to help.
Anselmo, whose heavy metal/hard rock music has sold out several world tours, is a big fan of boxing. That may be an understatement. Anselmo actually studies overseas fight DVDs which he buys from fight film dealers, watches all boxing on TV and even trains boxing and has an advanced knowledge of boxing technique and strategy. Anselmo counts Emanuel Steward as a good friend. "Nothing against the CHILI PEPPERS but ('Can't Stop') takes away from the intensity and credibility of (Wladimir Klitschko's) dominance," said Anselmo last Friday, moments before ESPN2's telecast of Godfrey-Cora in Connecticut.
"The best (entrance song) I've heard is the second Byrd fight — the Ukrainian anthem which I think is beautiful. I would put in timphony drums. I've already got an idea. What I have to offer would pump the crowd up, it would pump the world up and it would pump up Klitschko."
"I'm more than capable of writing the ultimate Klitschko song entrance. Or the ultimate boxer song entrance."
